Being a tourist in Sweden is cheaper than in ages. A hundred swedish kronor is equivalent to USD 12,16, EUR 9,03 or
GBP 8,45 today. It´s a 40% drop in value of the swedish currency since april 2008. This means business for incoming tour operators and overseas agents. However, Riksbanken (the Central Bank) says it´s a temporary situation and expects the krona will be back at normal rates within a year or two. The reason is that, despite the international recession, Sweden has a quite strong position compared to other countries with an overplus in the current account balance.
I wouldn´t say it´s now or never. But it´s definitely a chance to see Sweden at bargain prices this summer.

That is the cheap preice of tourism . Tourism very affect in these season. Tour packages is also very cheap in this days.
Great and very helpful blog! I work with international business development for the tourism region of Västmanland. Many of our operators find it difficult to price their products a whole year before the next season, as tour operators abroad demand. For example, many operators gave their prices in SEK last year. When the SEK dropped in value, German visitors found they could book the same products significantly cheaper online, directly with the operator instead of through their German Travel Agencies, who printed their brochures before the exchange rates changed. I would love to find a method or some advice on how to handle this problem. Any suggestions?

Sure, there are some basics to be aware of:
1. Suppliers within “the system” must agree upon the public prices, it shouldn´t be cheaper for a client to book online or directly than through a distributor./agent. If it is, the supplier will loose his distribution, the sales and the marketing they provide.
2. Currency fluctuations are part of the business risk. One way to deal with it is to make a reservation in the general agreements for price increases under certain circumstances, or to quote and offer the services in Euro or USD. But it´s still quite difficult to estimate a year in advance.
