Snowolverine – Touring in a winter wilderness

Sweden is a vast country, most of it covered by snow 6-9 months a year. Winter tourism is a billion-dollar industry here. Alpine- & cross country skiing, speed skating, samí reindeer tours or relaxing SPA´s with sauna and snow-bathing are some of the winter activites that fascinates visitors from all over the world. The deep forests, however, has been a well kept secret wintertime. A meter or more of deep snow has been an effective barrier to access many wilderness  wonders hidden in roadless regions. Until now.

Snowolverine

Nordic area, Europe´s largest snowmobile trail system, opened last winter. It covers 1000 km of high quality, well-groomed and signposted trails through valleys, across mountains in Mid-Sweden, covering parts of Hälsingland, Dalarna and Härjedalen counties. Suddenly, you get access to stunning nature scenerys, lakes, rivers and ancient deserted settlements in a winter wilderness far from the beaten tracks. By using the Nordic area trails nature is prevented from illegal snowmobile joyriding. The trail fees goes to service and maintaining the trail system.

This year a new Swedish snowmobile, Snowolverine, has come to light after five years of developing work. The top modern design covers ten innovative patents. Wolverine, the company behind the new snowmobile, appointed recently Swedish incoming tour operator Härjulfs Resor to their sole conference- & events organizer. Härjulfs Resor has developed a series of guided, snowmobile-based wintertours to remote locations.

Those who wanted to see progress in Swedish winter tourism will surely not be disappointed.
