Witches in Sweden

The prosecution of witches in Sweden started in Lillhärdal year 1668, in the trial against Stor-Märit Jonsdotter, a woman who’s life story captivated and motivated the Swedish novelist Jan Guillou to write “Häxornas Tid”, the age of the witches. The novel later became a popular TV series that was in large parts produced on sites in Lillhärdal, where the actual events had taken place.  Produced by Troja Televison and broadcasted by Swedish TV4 in Sweden and Discovery channel internationally (Watch trailer - Quicktime required)
