The prosecution of witches in Sweden started in Lillhärdal year 1668, in the trial against Stor-Märit 
Jonsdotter, a woman who’s life story captivated and motivated the Swedish novelist Jan Guillou to write “Häxornas Tid”, the age of the witches. The novel later became a popular TV series that was in large parts produced on sites in Lillhärdal, where the actual events had taken place.
